Key Information

Emergency School Closure

In the event of the necessity to close the school in an emergency (snow, lack of heating, etc.), the Headteacher will take guidance and communicate action via:

  • The school website
  • Email to staff, students and parents
  • Text alert and / or letter to parents
  • A follow up email / message on the website will be sent to confirm when the school reopens as usual.

Health and Safety: Medication to Students

It is important for us to advise you that we are not able to accept the responsibility of administering medication to pupils, unless a prior arrangement has been made in writing with our Main Reception Team.

If your child requires regular medication, where possible, please administer it at home. However, if your child will need this medication at school, it must be handed to the Main Reception together with written details of the dose, frequency and any other information. All medication, including painkillers for headaches, period pains etc is covered by this new requirement. If, however, your child suffers from asthma and needs to carry an inhaler at all times, please tell us. Aspirin containing medicine is not suitable for under 16s unless prescribed by a doctor.

STUDENTS MUST NOT BRING ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL, UNLESS IT IS HANDED TO MAIN RECEPTION.

Items brought in/messages for students

We will try to get items brought in, and emergency messages only, delivered to students. We always do our very best but please be advised that this may not always be possible. Your understanding is much appreciated.

Locker Rental

Lockers at school are available to rent.  These lockers are provided by ILS and cost £25 per year, allowing use from September to July.  To guarentee a locker please visit www.ilsschools.co.uk.

Lost Property

We understand how upsetting it can be to mislay belongings. To ensure we can re-unite students with their lost property, please ensure that all items are named.

New Contact Details

If you have recently moved house, changed telephone, etc. please let the office know; we may need to contact you in the event of an emergency so it is important that our records are kept up-to-date. Thank you.

Opening Times

Main Reception is open between the hours of 8am and 4pm for enquiries and payments.

Student Reception is open between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

All payments over £5 should be made via WisePay. If you require a copy of your child’s WisePay login details please send your request to admin@onslow.herts.sch.uk
