Our Young Carers are students under the age of 19 who care for someone in their own home for example a sibling or parent.
The reasons for this could be that they are ill, have a physical or mental disability, sensory impairment, Autism, ADHD etc., or alcohol or drug problems. Young Carers can be affected in various ways: emotionally, physically, socially and educationally.
Here at Onslow St. Audrey’s we want to make sure that our Young Carers have a safe and confidential place, where they can talk and get the support they need. We can liaise between them and their families and give them emotional and educational support.
Drop in Sessions are available by appointment on:
We know that time out for these students is essential to their wellbeing and therefore we provide where possible trips to the theatre, cinema, pantomime, and out for dinner.
In 2017 our Young Carers visitied Hatfield House Park, Farm and Gardens which was funded by Arise (a local charity). In 2016, having been granted an award of £1000 from The Wellfield Trust AGM we were able to take our Young Carers to Tolmers. This amazing charity have supported us for many years helping us to fund our activities.
