Science Block Heating
For the past 2 weeks there has been a fault on the air conditioning units in the science block. This has resulted in the system not being operable which has resulted in no heat in the block.
We continue to work with contractors to resolve this issue and ensure that the heating system is up and running as soon as possible. We have received confirmation from them that the repair will be completed early next week.
During the past 2 weeks whilst the system has been down we have implemented the following measures to help limit any disruption to the teaching of science at the school:
- All lessons that do not need to take part in a science laboratory have been re-timetabled to other areas of the school.
- For lessons that have remained in the block we have provided portable electric and gas heaters to help keep the rooms warm
- Students have been permitted to keep coats on in the science class rooms should they need to
- At all times staff have had the option to move their class to another area of the school should they feel that the class room is not a safe environment due to the temperature.
We will continue with the above measures until the system is fully operational, this should be early next week once the repairs have been completed.
We would like to thank students, parents and staff for their understanding and flexibility during this exceptionally cold period.
