On Wednesday 22nd February students were treated to an ‘Audience with Chris Maples’, former Chief Revenue officer at Bigballs Films, where he was responsible for driving the global commercial success of the business.
Chris was until recently, Vice President of Spotify Europe, where he led the European Ad business and was heavily involved in Marketing, PR, Business development and market launches. During Chris’s time at Spotify the business grew from 6 to 78 markets, and won several industry recognised awards. Prior to Spotify, Chris was Commercial Director of Microsoft’s UK Ad business where he ran a team of 230 people, responsible for $180m of revenue across all digital products. Chris has run high performing teams across all aspects of the media and advertising market, including Bauer, Channel 4 and Flextech Television. In 2012 Chris was awarded ‘Greatest individual contribution to new media’ at the NMA awards.
His mesmerised audience were 100 Year 10 students soon to be embarking on their first encounter of the world of work during the very successful work experience programme run at Onslow St Audrey’s School. Chris’s entire speech was inspiring, motivational and filled with top tips about ‘how to be successful’.
His final word was to leave the students with motivational key messages which included; network; never stop learning; communicate with all people; practice concentrating; opportunities are global and most of all remember ‘Be Kind, Be Helpful, Be Generous and Be Caring.’
Students commented that Mr Maples’ talk was ‘really inspiring’ and that it was ‘motivating and encouraging’.
We would like to thank Chris for taking the time to visit our school, not only for the uplifting and interactive presentation, but also for kindly staying behind to have pictures with students.
