How could the arrangements for your Governor of the Month visit have been improved? (eg were there aspects of the school’s work you were unable to see?)
No suggestions for improvement – I felt very welcome.
Upon arrival, I discussed options for the day and I was informed that there would be a Dance display in the afternoon that I could watch. I made it known that I would like to do a spot check of the SCR and a HR file of one of the most recent employees – Ginny Dash was extremely helpful and arranged for this to take place.
What did you see on your visit that most impressed you?
The Dance display was excellent in both content and behaviour. The students sitting at the back waiting their turn to perform were patient and well behaved. I observed students positively interacting with the primary school students that were visiting the school, which was really encouraging.
I saw a number of lessons where students were engaged and enjoying what they were studying. The behaviour in the majority of lessons was really good. In particular, lessons taken by Miles Conway (Computer Science) and Gemma Pratt (English) were excellent – exceptional student interaction and behaviour.
What did you see on your visit that least impressed you?
When I arrived at 8.45am there were still several students in various places around the school (e.g. bike shelter, canteen, playground) when they should have been in their form classrooms.
Behaviour in corridors between lessons was poor at times.
Please add any further comments or observations.
Excellent day overall.
